Empatika News: Milo Furniture Featured in Willesden Library

Recycled Wood Table in Library Exhibition

Tristan is a fitted furniture expert but he also specialises in recycled and reclaimed wood furniture. He is the designer of the Milo table, which is a small coffee table or bedside table made from waste wood. Recently the Milo furniture received the recognition it deserved, by being featured in a sustainability exhibition at Tristan’s local library.

The unique exhibition is called ‘Old stories for new times: inspirations for living sustainably’ and is running until 24th January 2016 at Willesden Green library. It is a collection of objects, interviews and photographs from the 1930s to the 1960s, telling the story of the local community. It brings to life a time when cars and TVs were rare, and people were more likely to repair and re-use items than buy from new. Tristan’s Milo table is on display as a modern inspiration for those who want to put sustainability first in their lives. Let us know if you get to visit the library exhibition and what you think of it!

Empatika’s Recent Work: Bespoke Shelving Unit

Last month we were contacted by a customer from Beaconsfield who had seen a furniture unit in our online gallery which she liked. She wanted something similar but a little smaller, and she needed us to make sure it fitted her needs and space perfectly.

This shelving unit is built from scratch from oak veneered MDF wood and hand painted in the lovely Off Black shade from Farrow and Ball.  We’ve fitted two LED downlights which are sunk into the unit, and the handles on the draws are top routed so you can’t see any metal sticking out for handles anywhere on the furniture.

If you spot a project of Empatika’s that you like, just get in touch to find out how we could make it work in your home. As fitted furniture specialists we can advise you on the most practical and aesthetically pleasing options, whatever you need.

Have you been keeping up to date with the blog lately? We have plenty of storage and interior design inspiration including the lowdown on trends which never go out of style.
